Member Comments:

I selected House Painting, Inc., based on the numerous reviews in Angie’s List citing the top quality work and service performed by this company.  The reviews were right on the money.
When I called the office to arrange an appointment, the call was answered promptly and very courteously (the office manager is quite friendly and very helpful). James Lee, the owner, came to the house right on time to discuss what was needed for his estimate, and was very thorough about his review and proudly showed many pictures of the work his company has done. In less than 24 hours we had a written estimate delivered by e-mail.  I called back the next day and arranged a start date within a week.
“Abraham” arrived right on time to start the exterior work. He and his team spent a few days carefully covering all the windows with plastic sheeting to protect them from splatter. On the balcony he noted termite damage and repaired it as part of the prep. On the fence, he found dry rot and, for the additional price of the lumber, replaced 10 boards (he even shopped around to find the best match to the existing boards, which were not quite standard cuts).  All wood was sanded, primed and painted. All work areas were covered with tarps to protect from drips. Each day, all work areas were very carefully swept, the work tools neatly set aside, and the areas were left cleaner than when they started this project.
On the last day, the interior crew came, too. All the interior work areas were covered with plastic sheeting and taped to protect carpets and wood floors. Putty was needed in a few spots to repair dings and such. We had paint to match left over from the previous touch up 3 years ago, but not enough to complete the job. The team lead recommended going to the original paint company in downtown Los Angeles (we live in Venice) to get an exact match using the codes on the paint can).  Although paint stores nearby could get close, an exact match was not likely and there were too many adjacent areas that were not being touched up where a slight mismatch would be visible. I agreed and his recommendation turned out to be exactly right.
I originally thought the bid was a bit high, but placed my trust in the quality cited by the Angie’s List reviews. I was impressed by the quality of the work, the extra steps that they took to protect our home, the neatness and professional workmanship, and the worm and friendly attitude displayed every day on the job. I have no regrets about this project. Top marks all around.
