Painting – Exterior

Work Completed Date:  August 26, 2013

Approximate Cost:  $4,200.00

House Painting Inc. painted the interior of our home from Monday 8/26 through Friday 8/30. This work included painting two accent walls, inside of a closet, bathrooms, ceiling, trims, and patching holes as needed. In addition, the painters sanded and revarnished the railing for our staircase.

House Painters, Inc. provided EXCELLENT service in every way!! I retained them based on the recommendations on Angie’s List and I, in turn, would recommend them to others without hesitation.
(1) Their rate was very reasonable, including a proposal process that was highly professional. We received two other bids that were $1,000 to $1,500 higher. Despite the extra cost, the other painters failed to inspire confidence in us. For example, they were unwilling to break out cost by room nor provide a copy of their insurance. James Lee from House Painters was the only one who came prepared with a binder containing photos of their work, a copy of the firm’s insurance policy, referrals, etc.. He was also willing to provide a written estimate by e-mail w/a quick turnaround that separated out each item so we could choose how much we wanted to spend in total and prioritize.
(2) The painters were very reliable and competent. My husband and I are meticulous about our belongings so we were relieved and pleased that they handled all our furniture with care. Everything was well covered, protected, and returned without incident. They were also very good at estimating the time it would take to complete the job. They projected 5 – 7 days and were finished in 4.5 days, exceeding our expectations. We work from home so we were prepared to stay at a hotel for a few days but we didn’t need to. Their work was well contained each day enabling us to easily work around them. They used low VOC paint as we had asked so the smell was a non-issue. We had also expected the sanding of the wooden railing to be messy and noisy but that too was well contained with the sanding being done by hand so the work was much quieter than we had initially feared. In summary, the painters arrived each day at the time as promised, painted without incident, left everything in great order at the end of each day, and finished the job earlier than promised.
(3) They back their work. When I mistakenly thought they had slightly damaged a painting, Mr. Lee offered to pay for the repairs without hesitation. It turned out that a dust particle had become dislodged when the painting was taken down. This issue was due to improper framing NOT the painters. I was, however, very pleased by how accommodating Mr. Lee was – very reassuring.
